Further to my previous thread: NOISE FRM CLIMATE CONTROL, I have now confirmed that the source of the noise is eminating from the RNS510 SatNav unit and NOT from the climate control. I fully understand that the unit must have a cooling fan as with any computer/amplified device does but mine does seem quite noisy. You cant hear it when the engine is running - but after the stopping the car and for example sitting listening the radio it is quite noticable.

The other issue is regards duration of the fan after switching off the unit. The fan appears to run for a considerable time after switiching the SatNav off.

Does anyone else have experience of a noisy fan with their RNS510 satnav and also the fan continuing to run after the unit is switched off?

The fan will run after the ignition is switched off, sometimes for 20 minutes or so. Its totally normal, they all do that.

If it wasnt switching off after this time then you would have problems with flat batteries, as you havent mentioned a battery problem then all is well I think.

mine does that too, and its normal. i think that the main "issue" with golf 6 is that VW worked really hard to create very quiet driving experience that now almost "backfired" as we get to notice every single noise/rattle/fans that we wouldn't probably notice on a Ford Focus for example, or even a Polo
