    Default Steering Rack Replacement – 27-01-2010,07:39 PM
    I need to replace a faulty steering rack on my '99 GT TDi. What's all involved with this, does the subframe need to be removed?

    I dont think the subframe needs to be removed, just unbolt the rack from the frame, are you sure its a faulty rack?? I have a 99 GT TDi, with a similar issue this time last year, was just a PAS return hose from rack to resevoir, loss of PAS and all my fluid, but do NOT buy ordinary PAS fluid, u must buy the green stuff from VAG....
