Denso were the suppliers of the new injectors after the original suppliers ones turned out to be suspect.
Piezo is the operating coil inside the injector which controls the injection timing.
This will be present on the new style manufactured ones, so the problem may well still exist.

It was only a matter of time.........

Today was my day about 7am on the M5, car lost power, glow plug light flash and she died, luckily I could coast with the remaining momentum into the nearby services and roll to a halt abeam Costa Coffee!!

Recovered to Audi, suspect it's the injector(s), waiting for the call and damage ££££££X£££££££££££££

If you are buying one, a car that is, ensure they have been replaced, other wise they are about £500 each plus fitting, not nice.

I'll post more when they call.....

Off to the pub for a relatively cheap beer..

I am afraid to say I have this evening joined the failed injector club, I received a text from my local VW/AUDI chap at 18:00 saying an injector has failed.

I must agree with everyone putting aside the cost which is making me feel very upset, the danger this presents to people is madness. If this failed on motorway on a busy day, you could be in a right pickle and like many of you I have a child, so this makes me some what nervous indeed.

Once I have a price from my local chap tomorrow morning I will call Audi Bristol to see what they have to say. It was intereseting Bristol Audi coded a new key to the car for me in December as when I bought the car in October 2010 it only came with one key. They did a two recalls on the car at the same time and the Audi guys must have knowledge of the issue but do not see this as being an issue for recall, bonkers if you ask me.

A very sad Audi owner who up until today had been a very happy chap with my 170.

I think you right, when I dropped the car of at the garage this afternoon the independant chap knew of the injector issue. His main comment was around how stupid a design it was and that he had another customer who was on the middle lane of the motorway and it happened to him. When it does happen the cars drops all power immediately which makes me scarred, the RAC chap who turned up this morning also knew of the issue and he was the first person to say the dreaded 'I' word, so this appears to be no secret amongst the motoring fraternity.

I am fed up on many fronts (sorry for the moan), the cost, the time and the confidence going forwards in the car. It had taken me quite a while to find the exact spec A4 170 I was after and now I just want rid of the car, looking at 5 series on the web now as I fear Audi Bristol will tell me to go whistle.

Diesell specialist where I live says he always keeps 3 injectors on the shelf as it's that common.
Audi dealer may tell you to whistle but do what I did and get on to audi uk customer services.

Spoke to Audi UK today and they said they do not know this to be an issue/fault with the car feul injectors. I pointed out that the do know but they are simply not acknowledging the problem due to the cost implications. Essentially they were not hugely interested and suggested I call Audi Bristol.

I rang Audi Bristol and spoke at length with a very helpful person and after a long conversation Audi Bristol agreed to cover 50% of the costs which is obviously great news :-) The quote so far is just shy of £900 so still not an insignificant amount required from me.

Audi Bristol also ackowledged that they could not say I would not get the problem with another injector which I appreciated but also stated I could not believe this was not being handled as recall due to the safety element of the failure. However to be fair the person I dealt with was very helpful and understanding and I thought I received very good customer service from him.

I just need to now decide what to do once the car is fixed, stick or twist to a different car. This like many of you has put a real dampner on having the car as I am very happy with it up until now as I have been with other Audi's I have owned.
