It seems the aerial signal booster is dead as my radio has crap reception and wont seek stations. Is it ok to buy any old signal booster and fit it directly into the radio taking power from the remote / auto aerial lead (JVC unit)?

Or do I need to remove the knackered one first and if so where does it live on a '98 tdi estate?

    Thanks
