The oil drain intervals are dependant on whether the car is on Longlife servicing or fixed/annual. If it is on long life - the car needs to be serviced when the indication on the dashboard shows.

As far as the cambelt change goes, VW offers conflicting information on when this should be carried out. I think the concensus on here is that it should be done ever 60k miles or 4 years whichever is sooner. It is also advised that the water pump and tensioners are changed with the cambelt (as well as auxiliary and power steering belts if you wish).

The brake fluid should also be changed every 2 years. Hope this helps.

I've never been a massive fan of the Variable servicing pattern that VW use, it can mean you go for 18,000 miles without even an oil change. You know where you are with a fixed interval service. 10,000 mile intervals are the best pattern and you should even look at getting the oil changed every 5,000 miles but it depends on how long you want the motor to last. My previous golf 1998 golf tdi 115 ran to 190,000 but with regular servicing.

You could get away with 10,000 oil changes but i play it safe.

Oh by the way, my previous golf would have gone on even further but it was wiped out after it was stolen from a Travelodge!
