Anybody know anywhere that i can get cheap tyres for the original alloy wheels which if i remember correctly are 235/45R18 and also i bought this car from a "car supermarket" and if they sell me the car with an advisory note that the tyre is getting to being almost illegal is it their legal obligation to change this?

I bought my car from a car supermarket for a not inconsiderable sum. One tyre was pretty worn so I resolved to let the deal hang on them replacing the tyre....unfortunately their will was stronger! You could buy a used OEM set with good tyres off eBay - that's what I did with my A3 and it paid off big time.
