    Hi guys

I am confused. I require a a second key and remote for by B7 05 TDI and, having optained a remote key fob with the same part number as the existing I went along to the dealer and ask them to cut me a new key and code the remote I brought. Dealer advised that both key and remote comes as one part even if say your key is broken you must purchase a new remote fob and key as there is a chip in the key? (pass). Can anyone of you fellow members point me to a place where I can purchase a new key or if I get one from fleabay, where can I go to have the new key cut and the remote coded? Anywhere between Milton Keynes and London I am happy to travel. Or is it just a dealer only?

    Thanks for your advice

Hi. I need a new key too. Not too bthered if is a remote, just something for emergencies if I lose my only key. No locksmith i can find will touch it - something to do with the chip. Is it a dealer job? If so how much will it cost? Or is the locksmith wrong - if he cuts a key is it going to work?

    Many thanks.

No, the key needs coding to the car, you can't just cut a key unfortunately. It's not necessarily a dealer only job, I can do it and I guess some others may be able to also.

Ohright. When you say you can do it, are you a mechanic, or a locksmith - how come you can do it but others can't?
