    Only other thought I have is a bad connection at the DLC. Is it possible something has messed with the wiring harness and damaged the lines such that you are not able to make a good connection? Take a look at the aftermarket radio page because it shows the wiring to the DLC and I'd start looking for a problem there.

    Outside of that idea, I have no better clue. It still could be one of the burried modules but I would find that hard to beleive since nothing is communicating. You did check for power at the DLC - right? There is a fuse and the DLC has got to have power for the interface to fully work.

    Have you tried what we call a cold boot? disconnect the battery - both terminals - short the battery leads together for a couple of seconds - wait a few minutes - then reconnect the battery. This forces all modules into a total restart and sometimes will get a module that is hung to restart and begin communicating. Normally we tell people to do this as a last resort. Seems you might be there.

    I have the same problem with one of my Audi 80 tdi's VCDS will talk to all my other cars (4) except one. tried all the above but strange, vcds can find the controller but after starting the car VCDS can no longer find the controller
