Hi, i got my nice golf gt tdi 130, tuned it as much as i could afford, by fitting panel filter, ss exhaust and super chip. Rolling road give me 159bhp.

I drove through over 2ft of water a while back, cars been off the road for a while with the engine been buggerd. ( bent conrod, smashed pistons...)

Anyway, i got a new engine from a 130 the same as mine. And now that iv got the engine block which is fitted with a turbo and clutch from a 50k engine, i want to change the turbo to hybrid and clutch to a beast to handle power.

Iv spoken to a tdi specialst and he says the sachs clutch wont last long with over 250 bhp ( its the torque thats worrying me).

So the specialist in mk4s i was talking to, said about a bronze plated clutch which would be much stronger as his mate used one after his sachs failed in a month with 250 bhp.

Now im just asking if anyone else has experience in 250bhp tdi engines (golf pref) and what clutch is the strongest, say i wanted 300bhp in future. What clutch should i go for, and im sure flywheel will need changing and clutch arm.

Any expert help me out a little?

    Thanks

There are a few solid flywheel conversions around and clutches to go with them. The refinement is reduced and the pedal weight quite high. It isn’t just the clutch that is the weak spot but the flywheel as well, they are marginal in a modified PD150 taken to 190 never mind 250+.

Cheers, thats what i thought so any clutch/ flywheels conversions available to take all that beasty torque?

For the time being, il just fit a hybrid turbo and clutch. So will be looking at about 180 at a guess. But when i fit the fmic and get it all reprogrammed il be looking at around 230-240 id think.

Then in future il likely change injectors and k03s turbo and poss NOS. But i want the clutch to handle the power with ease!...

    Thanks
