    Folks.

Again, I appreciate this is a post most probably asked a thousand times before. I've got a 115 TDi, with 146k on the clock. It's been pretty ace since I bought it, but now the clutch is beginning to slip. I appreciate it's still seemingly early days in the clutch slipping department, but the car is on the original clutch and DMF.

If I end up replacing the clutch, has anyone got any realisitic figures on cost of replacement? (Is £450 - £500 realistic?). I'm looking for a VW indepdenent specialist rather than main dealer? And also, should I get the dual mass flywheel replaced at the same time while the gearbox / engine are separated. If so, any thoughts on cost for this as well? Does anyone have any similar experiences, before I end up spending up to £800 on such a high miler.

I'm sure it's something thats probably been asked a million times before, anyone got any experiences in this department for a similar spec car?

    All help appreciated!!!

Does the clutch slip all the time?

I know it sounds daft but if it is not doing it all the time then it could be something leaking into the clutch area as i have heard the problem a few times but as for the price £800 sounds about right for flywheel and clutch

aha. interestingly, or at least, i think it doesnt. it has little blips where the revs rise. but 70mph is pretty much spot on 2000 revs in sixth gear, so i think its only slipping occasionally on acceleration.

i read about the `minor slips due to diesel / oil leakage` elsewhere, and thus could do with learning more for certain, if anyone has any pointers?
