    Hi All,
New to this forum and looking for some help with a niggly problem.
The boot on my A8 is not closing properly. The electric opening and closing bit is fine, but the last few cm's, when it normally pulls itself closed is no longer working, and the boot won't close manually either.

Anyone had this problem before or have any ideas on what could be causing the issue ?

    Thanks

    R

check the boot lid lock is returning under tension as this is the usual cause as the switch doesn't show locked when the power latch pulls the striker so it pops back up.Just flick the boot lid lock all the way over and try that, if it closes correctly replace the lock.

    Hi there,
You may want to check with Audi as there was a service recall on some models of the A8 (mines a 2004 moel), and audi replaced the hinges as part of that recall. I guess here must have been a known problem with them.

    Hope this helps you out.

Yes that's correct but this is the boot lock and just as common but its wear and tear. The workshop action you refer to addressed the lack of lubrication at the hinges which over time burnt the clutch out on the power motor but if the correct lubrication G 000 115 A2 is used then this is prevented.
A sign the hinges are seizing can be seen by the difficulty in lifting the lid manually or remotely.

I have a simliar problem on my A8 inside the boot lock mechanism there is a red plastic cover, what happened was a small part of the red plastic had broken off and was lodged between the locking mechanism. I stripped the boot lock down and remove the small plastic part and the boot works and locks fine again.
