Hi first Golf and first post so thanks in advance for going easy on me!
I bought a Golf Mk4 SDI W reg. It has a noticeable clunking noise when going over bumps from the front, middle area of the under carriage I think. Kind of like a dull thud. Also when driving a random scraping noise from what seems like under driver side. Can anyone shed any light on this?
The car has done 85,000 miles with full service history but doesn't appear to have had cam belt or water pump changed. Would this need doing ASAP?
I'm happy with the car just want a bit of an idea before I take to the garage and they suss out my car naivety!
    Many thanks.

timing belt, yes, get it done asap, and whilst its there get them to suss out the knocking. could be a bush or ball joint on the front suspension so will probably need a new arm or 2, and maybe some arb links.
Audi 80 tdi avant with 360,000 miles...
