Hi, wondering if anyone could shed some light on my problem or give me some advice.

    I have a 1998 R Passat 1.8 20v (non Turbo)

The issues I am facing are an intermitent problem but they are so frustrating and I cant seem to find what is causing it. I am finding that quite often I will go to pull away at either lights or a roundabout etc and I will go to give the car gas as I normally would and lift clutch pedal to pull away and there will just be virtualy no power. Almost like I am pulling away in 3rd or something. Once I realise its happening I have to put clutch in give more revs to get it to go. It seems more common on urban runs etc around town. When on a long high speed journey its quite nippy and sharp. I have tried using injector cleaner on it but dowesnt seem to make a difference. I also have a strange problem where at low revs when coming to a stop or if just idling along in traffic the engine will rev up and down on its own with no input from the accelerator. I can feel the pedal moving under my foot but im not the one causing it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Matt

I assume that is done using one of the cables you attach to the car and a computer?

So if its a throttle body problem, is that repairable is even broken or is it one of those things that just happens on this particular model of car?

    thanks
