Can anyone enlighten me on B8 1.8T petrol S Line servicing.

My B6 was quite straightforward with a variable service around 17k, max 24 months.

My new B8 has oil service max at 12 months with the variable inspection at 24 months. Clearly this could lead to the two occurring quite close together. Am I missing something?

    Thanks in advance.

From memory the new regime indicates the first service requires oil and filter and the additional service will be for your pollen filter, there are two service indicators one for oil and the second for additional items like pollen, plugs, air filter and brake fluid plus gearbox oil change for auto.
So in most cases the oil service is due around 14,000 miles but the pollen is due at 19,000 or 24 months then most dealers are carrying out both to reduce the amount of visits but the as the first service may only require the oil change then the labour cost is greatly reduced as the fleet car market requested.

This service plan causes great confusion as there are two service indicators so more complaints as the driver soon finds the second warning on the drivers display after the first service, due to the additional items schedule or the dealer has not reset both lights.
I will post a more accurate description but that's roughly what to expect

    Maintenance concept

At roll-out of the Audi A5/A4, an improved maintenance
concept with reorganised maintenance work and
times will be introduced to meet the various customer
    driving profiles.
This maintenance concept will also be introduced
on the Audi A3 and Audi TT from model year ‘08
    onwards.
A key component of the improved maintenance
concept is the distinction between "oil change" and
"inspection", instead of coupling the service events
to the oil change intervals as previously.
    Flexible event (oil change)
    Mileage based events
Since time and mileage based service events are
now indicated, process reliability is higher.
This means that there is no danger of service events
being missed without the customer receiving prior
warning. The requirement for this is that the Service
    Interval Display is reset correctly.

    Time based events
The Service Interval Display now indicates to the
customer not only when the oil change is due, this
being a flexible event, but also when time and
mileage based service events are due.
As usual, this is indicated to the customer via the
    dash panel insert.
Additional information can be retrieved via the "Car"
menu, the MMI or the radio display
vag diagnostics, retrofits and general repairs

Hope so as I am paying on maintenance contract for an annual service as I dont like the variable. We have had variable on our A3 since new but it just does not sit well with me, oil change every two years.
