2003 Mk4 GTTDi, dash says "luggage comp open" even when shut and the alarm goes off randomly at night when locked.

I found out there is a common problem with the rear washers blocking, this then pops the pipe off when used and the washer fluid leaks onto the latch causing the fault. So I checked this and sure enough the pipe was off. New latch ordered and fitted. BRILL I thought!

It lasted 3 days then the fault returned, now when the boot is shut it turns out the boot light but still says "luggage comp open" on dash. I even swapped the latch with a friends on the off chance it was faulty and it's the same .

I have also noticed that when I'm sat in the car with it running when I press the brake the light goes out and when I release it it comes back.
does the system run through the brake switch? or is it more likely a comfort control mod fault?

I've used my VCDS and there are no fault codes present. Hope someone can help???

i think its a common fault and starts from the rear wash pipe, i think water is your problem, strip down the boot again clean it out and dry it up plently of wd40 and check the wiring is in tact
