Hi my 2000 Fabia Classic is currently lurking in tesco's car park as the car refuses to run, the immobiliser symbol on display is flashing and the car just starts and stops again, this has happened once or twice before, but I have always managed to get it to start eventually. Does anyone know how to get it going again? Do I need a new key?
Ps I do not have the key fob thing mentioned in the handbook

    any help would be appreciated

    Kate

    Hello.

Sounds like the code in the key is not being read or recognised by the ECU which results in the immobiliser 'staying on'. A fault code should be stored which will help with the diagnosis.

It could be the reader coil, the wiring to it, or the instrument cluster itself. Unfortunately it will be very difficult to track down without changing parts for elimination purposes.

Yes, or it could even be the ignition key......
I would try the diagnostic route myself, might work out cheaper in the long run.

Yes but the diagnostics will come up with the same code regardless of what the problem actually is.

    01176 - Key
    07-10 - Signal too Low - Intermittent

It's behind the cubby hole near the driver's knee. Pull it fully open and then pull it again to reveal the OBD socket.
