    Check the fans work.
Water pumps are known to fail.

actually i had to change the fan control module, but wasn't so sure about the pump, how can you check if it's the pump that's failing?
    Thanks,

You did all that and did not change the water pump! The water pump is THE most common cause of overheating on the 1.8T.

Checked the water pump and it's working the problem seems to be the gauge dash, i will install a new water temperature gauge to confirm, and by the way where can i find matching tt gauges?

No, TT dash spares are not available, the unit has to be sent to a specialist for repair or changed for another unit. If it is changed for another unit the dash must be matched to the ignition keys chip and engine ECU as the immobiliser is in the dash.

I had this problem and found out it was the 30amp fuse on top of the battery. The housing had melted, common fault. The 1st fuse left to right controls the coolant fan 2nd ABS 3rd ABS pump.

I think that Audi no longer cover these, they are getting old after all.
