    Hi,

My 2002 A6 3.0 Auto quattro petrol appears to have died.

Audi, here in France, want 15000 euro to rebuild the engine.

I took it in with ticking cam follower. they tested it and all compressions are down to 7.5 bar and under the cam covers all looks a bit sicky!

I bought it from a BMW dealer in Germany who is looking to see if anything is available under warranty....

Any ideas where an recon / SH engine can be sourced? The car is probably only worth10K so is beyond economical repair, but the body and interior are immaculate and too good to scrap.

A genuine Audi dealer supplied engine (block and heads) is only £4000, where do they get 15K Euro from?

The engine may well be cheaper in France, PM me the cars chassis number and I will see what I can find out.

If it runs and drives, it might be cheaper than €15k to drive it up to Crasher's place and get it done!

'oh dear',? 'Blimey' ?-- steady on old chap. Thats a bit strong for this forum.
I couldn't imagine any members using such strong language in the same circumstances.
Most would be effing a jeffing and blowing a headgasket too.

Settle down- dont make any harsh/ decisions -and work out how to get the injured motor back to Blighty .
You in AA or RAC recovery ?.

ps - personally I'd push it back to Uk rather than provide Euros for those frog eating , greedy 'chancers to gorge themselves on green legs and red wine .
