    I have a 2009 Audi A8 D3. I'm looking into having a towbar fitted.

Can anyone explain the difference between the vehicle specific electrics and the universal kits?

I was considering the 13pin connection and then using an adapter to 7pin.

The electrics should be CAN BUS controlled otherwise the BCM will have kittens.
