Just got a strange problem today with the standard stereo in my Allroad. It illuminates but did not come on when I came to work this morning. No station display on the dash either. And when I switched the car off and took the key out, the radio was still illuminated! Better check that later to see if trying to switch it on and off has put into into some sort of stay on mode? Any idea what it could be? Thanks

    Hi,

The Symphony head unit in my 2002 A6 used to lock up like this occasionally. Just take the cover off the fusebox on the end of the dash (driver's side I think) and pop the fuse for the radio out then back in again. If memory serves, it's the one on its own at the bottom, but the diagram inside the fusebox cover should tell you which is the correct one.

The concert in our Allroad did this once. I left the wife in the car while i popped into a shop and i took the keys. She tried to switch the stereo on and it lit up but didn’t power on. It was like this for the rest of the day, with the ignition on or not. The next day i started the car and it came back on! That was last summer and its bee fine ever since?
Scanned with VAG-COM, no faults found.
