    hi all
just looking for some info or is that insperation
im looking at a audi a6 2006 2.0tdi with a low engine power when cold ive driven it and managed to stall it while pulling out a junction drive it for 5 mins and its got its power back.
no black smoke or anything like that
im thinking of looking at coolant temp from cold, some sort of fuel delivery issues, boost pressure and anything else you chaps can think of
the owners not the kind to boot it off the line from cold it just seems to sluggish think my transit would have a better start from cold
thanks in advance for any help
    paul

    End ---------------------------------------------------------------------

so i started looking in measuring blocks at temps and every thing looked ok checked injected quantity thats ok also injector duration and that fluctuated a little.
then found channel 044 and that showed maf readings that was high spec is 180-300 at idle actual was approx 450
so fitted a recon maf from audi (£89) rechecked channel 044 and the reading was down to just under 300 (car has been remapped) took it for a test drive and it seems better but will know more in the morning

    thanks paul

Agree Crasher, it seems the old air mass meter has risen its ugly head again and having never Replaced one single air mass for 2.0 pd I'm not convinced either. Its the only reliable part on this engine lol

well well well had a call today and its still the same when cold.
not sure what it could be now its due for a service in 3500 miles and timing belt. had the air filter out and that seems to be ok for needing new one at service.
the car is driven out the garage most mornings switched off house locked up(5 mins) then car is driven for 5 mins about a mile engine is now warm car drives ok after that
so what else can cause it to be sluggish when cold
    thanks for the help

Its most likely to be my old friend egr doing its job as its supposed to, and this will sap power from cold for obvious reasons and also affect air mass intake measurements for fuel/air demands from cold.
If were talking no power then yes there's a problem but if we are talking reduced power until engine temp increases then the obvious conclusion is correct driving method and you assume you have a fault is more than likely the problem full stop.Regards A8
