Did anyone manage to get to the bottom of this?

I have exactly the same error codes low and high fuel pressure occasionally

Car cuts out at traffic lights or at very slow speeds off throttle.

i had the pressure reg valve (on the end of one of the common rails) replaced, and now the idle fluctuates and jumps around with motor stopping 1 time in 5 or 6 oscillations. BUT the car goes better @ higher revs now and fuel economy improved

Audi are kind of refusing (well not committing) to honour my extended warranty (3rd party) and it's starting to get on my nervs, and I'm going to park it in the dealer that sold it too me i and tell him to sort it or give me another car.

This is the worst niggly fault car I've ever owned and it's not cheap. I'm seriously amazed at the number of instances of this type of fault with any number of potential causes. That suggest Audi have not generated the correct SW to have fail safe rather than the current fail as default option

    Any advice welcomed

PS what does the Duty cycle % indicate??

    Hi mate,

After I changed the fuel filter the car was fine after a good run and some diesel treatment. I then sold the car.

Your warranty should cover this as its not wear and tear, I would keep persisting with audi and call youre 3rd party warranty suppliers.

    Thanks!

I had the filter replaced (twice). 1st time I seriously doubt Audi did it, although they cahrged me of course.. I say that cos they didn't do any of the 6 glow plugs they charged me 350 euros to do and eventually they did replace the glow plugs after the franchise owner received a stern recorded delivery letter.

So next time I got a 3rd party company to change the filter but it's unmarked brand yet it was expensive (75euro) (Shop with big windows springs to mind)

    Is there any recommended filter?

    cheers

    Hi,

I'm new to the forum and I have had the exact same issue with my 3.0Tdi Quattro since november.

The other day the engine light (emissions control light) came on and stayed on.
Got the AA man to come round and he looked at the error code (Poo87 _ fuel rail pressure)

Taken it to the garage but I have no idea what they are going to find.

Did this get sorted for you?
    what was the end result?

    Thanks

    Raj

    Hi,

I changed the high pressure fuel pump. In fact it was the inlet metering valve but you cannot buy it separate (which is a disgrace in my book).

My car has had zero re-occurrence after the pump was changed (5 months now)

I did not buy from audi cos it was 1300 euro. You can find them via diesel pump distributors, and the saving is considerable

However the fuel filter is also a candidate. I have heard of them collapsing internally reducing pressure , and also the fuel pressure sender on the bank 2 rail.

    cheers

I think I might advise the garage of this and see what they come up with.

A quick update on the car situation.
The garage were going to replace the high pressure fuel pump.
After reading around on the forum ....... (thanks everyone), i asked for the Feul filter to be changed first in the hope that it may resolve the issue.

    Guess what? It did!!!!!!

Just gonna drive the car for a while and see how I get on.

cheers for all the e-mails and advise.

The garage charges a total of £102.99 inc VAT
    this included:-

    brand new Diesel filter.
    Forte Fuel treatment.
and about an hour of labour.

If you are having this done, be sure to have the fuel treatment.
what they did was to fill the fuel filter with the Forte fuel treatment, this way the engine starts straight away and the fuel does not need to be cranked into the system (just like you need to when you totally run out of diesel)
This protects the injectors from becoming damaged.

Must say though, I still feel the performance isnt there as it was before the issue. Might just have the Fuel pump replaced and see what happens.

    Hope this helps.
