Ive just bought an Audi A6 - pick it up today. Its a 2006 A6 2.7 TDI SE. Bought it from an Audi main dealer. Looking through the specification of the car I see that it has some tasty options - the colour satnav, heated leater seats, metalic paint, and well Im not to sure of what else it has that wasnt standard with the car. Ill need to have a good look round it. I was driving a nissan xtrail before as a lease and a vauxhall vectra 1.9 120hp before that bother were leases and this my return to private ownership.

Anyways the process of buying a car and coming to a decision was torturous. The vectra put me off of vauxhall and the focus before that kinda killed my enthusiasim for fords - worked for ford a long time back and first car was a ford fiesta so have a bit of a soft spot for them. Had a shot in one of the newer focus and wasnt to impressed with the outside of the car it seemed to be not as distinctive as the first focus was. But then distinctiveness isnt such a great thign look at how the new civic has aged. So it was a case of having a good look about. Shortlisted were saab a 95 aero - till I found out the fuel consumption and the road tax, a volvo d5 S80 / S60 both seemed to be similar one was just a little larger. I do like the saabs there have been a few interesting ones in the family brother had a viggen and father had a griffin previously, good cars and storming engines. Had a seat in a late 95 and found it suprisingly low rent for an executive car - hopes the new 95 has a better drivers environment, yes the performance of the aero was simply stunning. but spend a lot of time on the road and prefer a nice place to be. The Volvos were good but the engines droned a fair bit and the image well they seemed to be aiming for the older driver. Audi just seemed to tick all the right boxes and the A6 2.7 cabin felt like a particularly nice place to be especially when kitted out with the rosewood and leather options. Anyways time will tell.

Got the car yesterday - drove back from harrogate took the A1 A66 M6 route right up to Bellshill then across to Broxburn. Average consumption read 55.3mpg when sat in the drive at home. Result ! Lots of nice things in the car and a lot to sit down and learn about - trying to get my phone to link with the MMI unit - still trying maybe a trip to the dealer will help. Seats are good - layout in the car is good - takes a while to get used to the number of buttons and lights in the car !

Thats great to know that there is a dealer nearby ! Ive got two services with Audi to take up as they offered that as part of the aggreement and then Ill be looking for the best way to keep the vehicle in tip top condition. So far Im impressed with it - the phone is great - bluetooth hooks up and links into the car and that is a good thing. The fuel consumption thing is great too as it was unexpected to get such a good consumption figure.

So 25-09-2009 to 22-11-2017 and over 100k of trouble free miles.... The A6 left my ownership today and I picked up a 2014 A6 and Im pleased very pleased.... this one is well pretty darn different. Lovely place to spend time and chill out if you want, let the car do all the work and then when you want it goes like a scalded cat.

8 years and over 100k miles later, welcome to C7 ownership! Hope the new car is just as much of a keeper!

    Cheers!

So last week saw me leave the Audi fold. Traded in my A6 C7 at 78k, not as many miles on it as what I did in the 2.7 C6. Loved them both for different reasons. Id have kept the A6 C7 to at least the 150k mark. But... Euro6 is a pain. I need a euro6 for work so chopped it in and bought a SEAT. still in the VW group. good car. SEAT altec, more tech than the A6 adaptive cruise leather and lcd clocks... oh and that much needed **** bottle...
