2006 2.5 TDI transporter I just wanted to know how long a DMF should last as mine sounds like it’s on its way out clutch and flywheel were replaced by dealer under warranty about 20k ago the van is not remapped so what may have caused the flywheel to go so soon van has about 95k on the clock is there a single mass flywheel available that can be fitted

see this post https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...ad.php?t=79355 im in the same boat. and no i dont believe these flywheels should go as soon as the do. this guy who i know who used to work for vw rekons they had a endless flow of vws in with exactly the same problem, my brother in law had the same problem with his golf dual mass. vw should recall all vehicles with dual mass to check and replace for free as they should last a lot lot longer. not only that but when these dual mass flywheels decide to let go they smash the gearbox to little pieces

Unfortunatley its an all too common problem.I worked on the VW comm.and we had to fight to get the support beams first in the workshop as we always had 1-2 boxes out per day for flywheels disintigrating/seizing-up.It was like a production line, mind you,i could get a 6 speed box out well within the hour!! Expensive to do though and i sympathise.
