    I doubt that the lock is faulty the part that fails is integral to the door lock mechanism, If a new part has been put in then i doubt that the microswitch is the problem, also if you have had the fault code scanned and nothing shows up the lock is probably all ok.

    Have you looked at the cable that attaches the external door handle this may still be the answer even though hitting the door does not work. If this is too tight then this may be the problem. The only real way to tell is to slacken it and see if this solvs the problem

    See cable in picabove (yellow arrow) you do not need to remove the lock to adjust this just pull handle open

    I had a look at that pic, and it's the drivers side so has the key hole there.

    Just pull the handle and hold in the open position and you should see the cable. There is no need to remove the lock barrel
