radio code for golf mk4 beta radio

hi can anybody please help me ive just bought a golf mk4 and the battery went down on it and ive lost my radio code now and its not in the booklets in the car its a beta tape deck with cd player under it the serial number is VWZ272W1116345 ant help would be great thanks on advance

The dealers have tightened up on this and now the only way I know of to get the code is to take the car to the dealer and they plug it in and the code is retrieved automatically. It seems daft that it is easy to by software that allows you to code the cars immobiliser but not to retrieve the radio code. This is now becoming a major pain for us when we disconnect the battery on a customer’s car.

its going to cause hassle for me the cars not in my name yet as i bought it from the auction i work in a garage so ill try phoning verve say its a customers car an we left the light or something on see what they say if it comes to it ill just have to wait till v5 comes bk an pay to get it done hate having no stereo lol thanks for your help anyway

I have the same problem. Is there no way of getting the code by using vag-com? If not, does anyone know how much VW will charge?

There is no way I know of to obtain the radio code other than by taking it to a VW dealer and it certainly cannot be done with VAG-COM, which is irritating. The price isn’t fixed, you will have to call them and find out.

Ah, I have discovered that the car remebers the radio code, all I had to do was switch the ignition on and it didn't ask me for the code any more. I have got a Gamma radio though, don't know if it would be the same for a Beta radio.

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't, 6N2 Polos are quite good for this feature.

You're lucky in that the vehicle was equipped with convenience coding, like my VW Transporter.

I had to get the code for my A6 from Audi, they gave it me free and a print-out from VAS 5051B with the code on it for future reference.

But I was in there spending £70 on a set of mudflaps, which may have had a bearing on the radio code being free or not.
