    Speaker Grill Problem.
Can anybody help? New Forum Member asks if anybody knows how to replace a nearside front speaker grill on my 2006 A4 Avant S-line? Guy in the dealership said he would have charge a couple of hours for doing it. He also told me I would have to take the whole inside door panel off, seems a bit drastic but what do I know? Buy the most helpful person a few beers.

Yup.. I did it on a previous A4..

You do have to take the whole door trim off, but that's a quick job.. just a case of undoing some bolts and pulling the door trim away from its pop-mounts.

If you are a handy fella and can do tha majority of DIY, have a go, it's not a difficult job.

As A8 Tech says, you'll need to drill-out the plastic weld points for the old speaker.

As you melt each plastic legs of the new speaker grille; continually check that the grille is pushed back into the door trim as far as it'll go. If you don't, you'll find that it'll be slightly loose when you've finished & may rattle / resonate when music played through it!

By the way, to melt the plastic legs, I used a screw-driver heated over a gas hob! Crude & smelly, but it worked!
