Car (2002 Golf GT TDI 130PD) went into limp mode last night on the way home (been fine since I got home and stopped/restarted)

Got the vagcom out and found "17965 - Charge Pressure Control: Positive Deviation " logged

I have taken the car out this evening and logged a few data fields for the purpose of faultfinding, I have uploaded the log below

    http://www.bbjunkie.f2s.com/log.csv

I'm not great with excel, so can't graph it.. however it is plain to see from the numbers that at times the boost is around 2980mb which equates to 43psi (28psi over atmospheric)

Not sure how boost pressure is measured, but I would've thought that either 43psi OR even 28psi is dangerously high, am I right?

Any pointers to sorting this out appreciated..

i have the same over boost problem

its from the turbo being stuck in maximum boost, i think it all starts from the EGR valve.
you can strip and clean the turbo or buy a new one

if you want to strip and clean the turbo there are loads of instruction on how to do it, just use the search option in this forum
    hope this helps

Try the Innoitec Turbo Clean kit... it worked for me.

    http://www.innotecworld.com/c-1064-turbo-clean-set.aspx

When using it, you will need something to make the cardboard 'blank' seal to the turbo to stop the 'gunk' leaking out. The instructions say use the old gasket, but this still isnt upto the job. Something more sturdy is required.

Give or take a few pence, when I bought it, it was £37 inc delivery, direct from Innotec.

There are a fet threads on here about it. Do a search for 'Innotec'.

Thanks guys, I had a sneaking suspicion that it was going to be the Variable Geometry turbo giving the trouble, just was kind of hoping it wasn't!

How long after application of the innotek product do you need to reapply?

    Thanks
