I have a W8 Passat that needs new front discs and pads.

GSF & Euro car parts have said that parts for this are only available from a main dealer. Unfortunately the main dealer has quoted me over £650.

Does anyone know if discs and pads from a different manufacturer / model will fit. Seems a lot of money to pay for standard items so wondered if I could get a aftermarket alternative (Tarox etc)

Thanks for the response but I contacted Black Diamond. The size of disc they list does not match what is on the car, diameter or thickness so is no good.

Having spoken to quite a few people today it looks like main dealer is the only option

You can get EBC pads direct for about £90 http://www.ebcbrakesdirect.com/car/p...+%282002%2D%29 or from EuroCarParts for about £60
Discs I believe you will need genuine, which can be had from EuroCarParts for just over £200

Fitting is dead easy, and if you don't do it yourself should cost you no more than 2hrs labour (I actually reckon about 1hr for this job, but you know what garages are like )

    Good luck
    Andy
