Hi there need some help! My golf gt tsi mk5 wont rev past 3000rpm. When the car is left off for a day or two the problem resets itself for a short while and lets me rev passed 3000rpm with no lack in power. My mechanic has connected his diagnostics and it flags up the inlet manifold flap but he says it is some sensor that is not working right but we cant figure out the name of the sensor?
Hope some one can enlighten me on this issue

What is the fault code number? You would be better to start your own new thread.

I've had the same problem with my 1.4 tsi beetle. Very intermittent but lose and almost leaves me with half power. And shows only half power on my turbo gauge.
Any ideas as what to suggest to vw as they do not seem to know where to look. Thank you!

my daughter's 140 GT TSi had a very similar fault which was eventually traced to the solenoid valve, after an independent so-called specialist had the MAF sensor, and then the the turbo, replaced under the RAC warranty... and still didn't clear it. Solenoid valve would be my bet.
But the first one we test drove (170HP version) had a similar problem which was simply a split hose - the garage wound gaffer tape round it for another test drive and it was fine!
so - two possible solutions for you

my daughter's 140 GT TSi had a very similar fault which was eventually traced to the solenoid valve by Lancaster Letchworth, after an independent so-called specialist had the MAF sensor, and then the the turbo, replaced under the RAC warranty... and still didn't clear it. Solenoid valve would be my bet.
But the first one we test drove (170HP version) had a similar problem which was simply a split hose to the turbo - no turbo boost at all, and wouldn't really rev over 3200; the garage wound gaffer tape round it for another test drive and it was fine!

Thanks so much! That's so helpful!
Was your daughters an intermittent problem as mines only happening every now and then and doesn't log any faults when it does.
It's now in at a second vw dealership.
They found nothing today after driving and diagnostics. Which I told them the previous garage did as it's an intermittent problem.
So hoping someone will check something else!
Fingers crossed. Thank you. If you've got any more helpful info I'd be very grateful.

it was sort of always there, as a misfire or hesitancy above the 3200 rpm mark, once it started. A noticable "snatch" as you accelerated past 3200.
Funnily enough, each time the indie garage did some work it seemed OK for a few weeks, but it returned.
After it was in lancasters; where it went because it had another unrelated issue which meant it wouldn't restart when hot, caused by the fuel pump, and they spoke to VW techs at Milton keynes, and I got some info on here, they looked at, and "diagnosed" the solenoid valve. Replaced that, and it was running better than ever.
    Still OK 2 years later.
I'd tell them to look at that, or just replace it, and the MAF sensor as well if you want. Hope that helps...

did you eventually get to the route of the problem?
My beetle is doing this and since ive had it its spent more time int the garage than out
they cant find anything on diagnostics and just end up ragging it about and using all my fuel..
mine is intermittent but VW are bloody hopeless and just say we can't find anything on diagnostics... not much help as i told them it hasnt shown up previously.... losing hope now...
