    Hi All,

having had a starter motor changed by them in 2006 I now take my golf to German Auto Engineering in the Portsmouth/Cosham area, its a small indepenent outfit which specialises in Diesels and VW's but i have always found the guys there (Paul and Cornelius) to be very knowledgeable and amicable blokes.

they are happy to offer advise FOC and make suggestions about where to source parts for all budgets, frequently telling me which bits to go digging in scrap yards for, as they know i run 'The Skip' on a shoestring budget.

They have sorted out numerous repairs on my current golf and are always happy to have a tinker with it for no charge when i go and see them with a 'its making another funny noise' query. they were also the ones who discovered my previous golf had been crahsed badly in the past and bent back out by an unscrupulous dealer who has been supplying my parents with Skodas for years. they offered to sort it out but gave me an honest opinoin that it would likely cost as much to rectify as it would to scrap it and buy a new car, and even if 'fixed' it was always going to be dodgy due to the extensive sub-frame damage inflicted.

I very much receommend them and wonder if anyone else has had any experience of using them for repairs, particularly for VAG cars as they describe them as their 'speciality'.

I had the cambelt and all the other bits under the timing chain cover that you ought to renew replaced this week by German Auto Engineering.

I delivered it at 8am and they rang me at 11am to say they were just finishing. 3 hours!? How the hell do they do all that in 3 hours?

    And the price? £363
