Hello... just bought a really nice Touareg for 'er indoors and she wants to tow her horse with it

Does anyone know the answer to these two questions please:

    1. Do I have to cut the bumper to fit a towbar? I'd really rather not... and

    2. Can I get a genuine one anywhere for a reasonable price (ie nearer £100 than £500!)

    Cheers

    Matt

Further to the photos of the Treg, I would have had a VW detachable towbar fitted by my VW dealer but they wanted £1140 to supply and fit. I think they use a Westphalia towbar system. As youcan see mine is a Brink, and there isn't a cover for the hole cut in the apron. However as it was almost £700 less I can live with it. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot guys... its people like you that really make these forums what they are today! I know I'm a newbie on here (although not on the air cooled forums) and really appreciate the time you've taken to help me out!

I think I'm gonna get the same type of detachable towbar, and have a friend who can fit it - and agree with you dickymint, £1100 is ridiculous - I'm hoping to get all done for £300-£400 tops... I'll let you know how I get on!

    Thanks again

    Matt
