'98 cab air con issue

Having a bit of trouble here. My air con guy regassed the system and had it blowing cold but only by hot wiring direct to the compressor. Dash light comes on with the swith but won't switch the compressor on. My guy thought it may be a temp sensor as the hand book says the aircon won't run at low ambient temps (ergo must hav a temp sensor). He couldn't find one. Audi sold me a new sensor but their diagram shows it installed in the front bumber and after taking it off we are convinced it is not and has not ever been there! Any ideas, or know of a specialist in the northants area who might be able to fix it?

the high pressure switch which i persume is what they have given you is behind front bumper just underneath the passenger side headlight you have to remove the bumper to get at it though.
