Hi all - My 2.5 tdi A4 has just hit 70,000k but at nearly 5 yrs old it's time for a cam belt change. Leeds Audi are quoting £1k for belt and water pump, best I could source independently is £600 + VAT in Leeds. Anyone know of a good independent in Leeds / Manc who may be able to beat that? I also need them to look at an issue with water in the driver footwell at the same time. Love the car though, am happy to spend a bit to keep it going.

    Thanks

£1000 to do a cam belt service? What a joke, are they having you on? Search in ebay, should be able to find cam belt kit that includes pulleys and waterpump ect, cost me about £100 for kit for Golf MK4 GT TDI, plus paid about £150 to an independent for labour.

Have a look at Awesome GTI site, search google, off Irlam on M62, they've got fixed prices for standard service things, would have used them for my cam belt change but was down south.

    Cheers.

£425 + get parts off ebay - still more then what I'd pay though maybe more involved with 2.5 TDI engine, but can't take more then double time it did for mine, more or less same amount of nuts and parts they have to take off.

Glad I don't have an Audi, guess dealers think Audi drivers have 'rip me off' written on their foreheads....

Hi mate, my sister has been taking her beetle to a VW/Audi specialist who lives in Lofhouse, rates are very very decent and service is fantastic. She rates him very highly, I will be taking my newly aquired Ibiza to him for any work doing on it... I can get his number if you like?

Just for reference I have just had this done by a local Audi specialist (Down South) on my A6 2.5TDi and it cost me £540. This was using GENUINE parts, make sure they change the thermostat as well.

I had my cam belt etc. done at IVC Independent VW Audi Centre on Pontefract Road in Stourton. Excellent service and very competitive on price. All VW/Audi trained technicians. Very trustworthy, and very competent. Give them a trry, i got their contact details off their website www.ivcleeds.co.uk
