Can anyone recommend a good interior upholstery protector akin to "Autoglym Lifeshine upholstery protection" for Black Leather/Alcantara (Audi A4 Avant Executive S-Line - QF) seats?

My new car arrives in September and I fear for its relationship with my 18 month year old and her food!

Didn't fancy the £400 dealer Autoglym option and quite happy to DIY both inside and outside protectors.

Is any recommended product easy to apply - any tips in the application process to ensure there is an even coverage?

    Thanks

PS. Did previously post this on the Detailing forum - plenty of viewings, but no replies!

I have used this on all my car carpets and the fabric seats in my wife's car

Not sure if it is OK on Alacantra. As for leather a clean and condition with Gliptone cleaner and conditioner should do the trick every few months.

I had similar thoughts (4 year old and a one month old). When Audi told me how much to protect the Alcantara it made perfect sense to pay the extra £330 to go for full leather.

Wipe clear and personally an interior I prefer.

Thanks Scotty, but the wife was not keen on full leather "burning hot in Summer/freezing cold in Winter" effect on her legs!

Had cloth/leather in the GTI and it worked very well - I am told the upholstery protectors do a good job - just need to find the best product - 303 High-Tech Fabric Guard seems to be the number one choice so far - also good for the carpets

Would however suggest purchasing a child seat mat protector to a) save the car interior and b) add to the safety of the child car seat by stopping it from slipping/rubbing (should hide totally under the child seat to keep the good looks of the interior) - hopefully this will also stop the flying food from staining!

May also get the anti scuff cover which seems to fit quite nicely to the rear of the front seat and does not look to garish.

Don't bother with this one, utter junk and will get trashed by your lively little ones in less than 1 month. Also never stays in place properly. A cover is a must tho with little feet and nice seats.

    In a pinch that's a decent one,

The best I have found and we still use after more than 1 year of daily abuse, but you need to order it from Amazon US. Has a frame at the top, fabric band at the bottom and fabric makes it very resistant.

Sad I know but been on that subject for few years....

I can understnad the hot in the summer issue but since I only rarely wear a skirt it's an acceptable situation for me

Cold in winter? Pah !! That's what the bum warmers are for

I actually like the Alcantara but I was concerned with wear, matting etc and the fact I'd have to spend more to kiddy-proof it.

Good luck - I hope the treatment you apply is never required
