• Connect mobile to Nokia PC Suite (if you’ve not got it, you can download it from http://europe.nokia.com/A4144903) and back-up phone contents (click on top left icon in PC Suite, it’s a picture of a safe with a blue arrow pointing to it, and follow the instructions).

  • Run software and firmware updater through PC Suite (click on the bottom right icon, it’s a green square with an arrow coming in from the top-right corner, and follow the instructions (you need to be connected to the internet for this)).

  • Reinstate phone contents from back-up file using the same icon as in point 1, and follow the instructions.

  • In PC Suite, go to “Help” and click on “Reinstall PC Suite support” – check your mobile for screen prompts, but don’t use the mobile or disconnect it.

  • In Pc Suite, click on “Install applications” (two to the left of the software updater), and follow instructions. Again, check your mobile for screen prompts, but don’t use the mobile or disconnect it.

  • Delete ALL Bluetooth pairings from your mobile and the car (in my MMI, I have to press “phone”, then “Setup”, then it’s in the options to restore defaults; this will cancel the Bluetooth pairing).

  • Go to the applications menu in the mobile; there should be an icon that looks like a car with a red/orange arrow above it and “download” written beneath it. Click on this (it should start to run, and say “processing”) then exit by pressing the hang-up button and re-pair the mobile to the car using Bluetooth. After a few seconds your phonebook should be visible in the MMI and DIS screens. If it doesn’t, go back to the applications (keeping the mobile and the car connected at all times) and click on the “Download” icon again, then just exit by pressing the hang-up button. A few seconds later your phonebook will become available. If you’ve got your mobile set to automatically connect to the car (your mobile should ask if you want to do this when you are doing the initial pairing), the phonebook should automatically display too.
