    Hello again.

Due to heavy rain yesterday, today I smelt dampness near the front in the car. I suddenly spotted that the passenger side floor was wet and damp. I then popped the hood and checked the battery, there I saw some small amount of water leakage around the battery.

Is this a common fault with Audi's?

Can anyone shine some light on this.

Im playing around with my battery at the moment (dont know how to get it out do you? ), mine was swimming in water as well, I assume there is a clogged drain hole somewhere which I was hoping to spot when the battery is removed. I shouldn't think it's water leaking from the battery, of course I could be wrong!

Yup, the plenum chamber where the battery sits has two drain holes which get blocked. Very common with A4's and Passat's.

    This might help:

I went to check the dampness again (half hour ago) and floor mat is still wet and damp. So for now, I somehow managed to lift the mat open to get some ventilation. I could just about feel that there is some water lying around under the foam.

As for the battery, I had a check and it seems all dry. Bit I still dont understand as to how the battery would've caused the dampness on the floor mat.

I checked it from underneath but all looks secure and fine.

Assuming your heater matrix hasn't leaked , I'd suspect the door seal leaking in the heavy rain. I get this problem if I park my Mrs' Bora at a certain angle in heavy rain. When you have heavy rain again (any moment now) park it in the opposite way (uphill/downhill).

The heater matrix is fine, bare in mind that the dampness on the floor mat is near the top left. Will take pic to show.

Yes...but I think the condensor drains are close to the passenger side footwell.
They have been known to block causing the water to drain in the well instead of out under the car.
