Yes, now if someone who has changed their pump and still has old one about could take it apart... . And maybe then we could figure out what worn out there and what is possible to replace there to get it going again.

Was hoping to get an old one to do exactly that but didn't work out. Mine is pretty much on its last legs at the moment but can't take it out to spend a few days/weeks looking for parts for it as I need the car...

Am still debating about just spending the money on an Arnott replacement and if I do, I'll disassemble my old one with pics. If someone else does have an old one lying around they want to donate, I'll pay the shipping!

Don't forget the Mercedes Compressor that can easily be made to fit... they are much cheaper and easier to get hold of.

According to the American Allroad forum, you only have to swap over the air pipe and cut/join a pair of wires...

The Mercedes Part No. is 211-320-03-04.

Indeed, Mercedes part 211-320-03-04 or 211-320-00-04.
I still dont trust Arnott for pumps, but if is new shoud be ok.
It's a pretty straight swap and should be quick job, even if you have to change few bits over (as long as they fit).

    Greg,
I have a 2000 allroad, ive had the back end compressor replaced by Audi last year = and airbag (ouch), front drivers side has now failed plus some of the ball linkages, these have to come off apparently when replacing the airbags, apart from that the gear to do just about the whole corner is about 750-800 pounds with you Doing the work yourself....good luck, i cant seem to find anyone who has done this themselves.

If you search this forum for "allroad suspension" you will find loads of info about us all changing airbags for Arnott ones £300 per corner DIY, step by step instructions also on this forum in these threads, and on arnott website. Arms can be removed during this strip anyway so can be changed if required.

On a slightly different thread, my Allroad, much to my regret has got to go.

2000 2.5Tdi 178k miles with a poorly corner (as mentioned) do you chaps think that the Audi salvage guys are the best people to sell to in this condition and if so any idea of cost.

colour coded Atlas grey from factory with all the wants TV,Bose, Solar roof etc...
I would really appreciate some guidance

Think I'll just chance the Mercedes one from Arnott. Says it's a new OEM overstock item so hopefully it is what it claims to be and not something that's been reconditioned. At $305, it's not too unreasonable but depends on shipping & duties.

Whenever I get it, I will do a stripdown of the old one with pics...

This guy used to sell the genuine continetal compressor, looks like an aftermarket one now but just to throw it into the mix!!

The arnott one used to require you to swap parts over, and may still do such as electrical plugs and connectors, this one should be a straight plug in, check part numbers 1st!!

Thanks for the link. Only problem is that it's twice the price!

The Arnott one does require to swap a few parts over (plug, temp sensor, intake pipe) but that shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes. It's not like any job on an allroad ever takes longer than expected, especially the simple ones...
