I have a 2002 1.8L TT while driving or idling the fans will not come on and the car overheats if you turn on the A/C the fans come on. Could it be the fan relay? If so does anyone know where it is?

I have tried to get the code since the check engine light is on also but the OBD would not read them I guess it has some kind of CAN protection.

    Any help would be apprieciated

The AWP stamped on a tab on the cylinder head. Is there another place I should look. This does not match with any of the codes listed. Is one engine code more prone to problems than others?

Quantum Performance says it should be AUQ/ARY but I do not see anything that has this on it.

    Check operation by
take expansion cap off and crank it up and let it run until it gets to operating temp. You should be able to see the coolant moving inside the expansion tank. if it is, it's working.
