Many thanks ibizagreg. I took it to my local garage this morning and he said something was wrong between engine and gearbox and suggested I take it to Audi. I mentioned the DMF but he said it was automatic and didn't have a DMF but a torque converter. The starter motor sound more likely as the car drives perfectly and I only get the issue when engine is hot.

There is now a way to solve starting problem:
Wiring kit for warm engine start problem elimination (for 2-pin sensor) | eBay
Write now there is wiring kit only for this temperature sensor but we are working on to make kits for older and newer sensors versions.

I would guess that it tells the ECU its colder than what it actually is,giving extra fuel in a default setting
    VW POLO 2002 1.2 12v , Audi A6 2006 2.0 TDi SE , Skoda Fabia 1.4 TDi

All 3 cars in the current fleet

This kit is telling to the ECU it is cold only when you are starting the car.
It does not affect engine normal working.

My advice is to start with getting the battery replaced. I had this annoying problem for years, even happened when getting the car MOT'd and it doesn't look good. After my battery went flat I replaced it, and the hot start problem has disappeared. I looked at lots of car forums when trying to investigate the problem and never got a clear answer.... this was my clear answer. I'm going to post this advice to as many forums as possible now to let people know.

Bang on mate, a new battery fixed my hot starting issue. It's been probably 6 months since I changed it and the problem has dissapeared. Thank God for that! So yes like Peetza has said above - get the battery changed and hopefully that should cure the problem.
