    Reports: 'Michael Jackson Has Died'

    Breaking News

    11:15pm UK, Thursday June 25, 2009
Michael Jackson has died in hospital after suffering a suspected heart attack, website TMZ has reported.

The ambulance suspected to be Jackson's outside UCLA hospital - Picture TMZ

Jackson, 50, suffered a heart attack just after 12.00pm local time (19.00pm GMT) and paramedics were unable to revive him, TMZ.com said.

When paramedics arrived at his house he was not breathing, LA fire department captain Steve Ruda told the LA Times newspaper.

Jackson was given CPR by fire department paramedics as he was taken to UCLA Medical Center, the LA Times said.

Steve Hargrave, Sky's entertainment correspondent, said: "TMZ is a website which goes out of its way to get there first but many of their stories over the years have turned out to be true - particularly with stories from LA.

"You can only imagine the impact of this around the world."

Jackson manager was not unavailable for comment and officials at UCLA Medical Center where he was treated could also not be reached.

Sky's US correspondent Greg Milam said: "Clearly he was very seriously ill - we can gather that from what his father and other family members said.

"One member of the family had told the TMZ website that Michael is in "really bad shape" and that the brothers were heading for the hospital.

"His father said he wasn't sure exactly what was wrong and was waiting to hear back.

"One can only imagine what it could be like for his family in such circumstances."

Jackson had been about to embark on a comeback, performing 50 concerts at London's O2 Arena.

The concerts had been due to start the concerts on July 13.

He had been rehearsing in the Los Angeles area for the London shows, which sold out within hours of within hours of going on sale in March.

Now confirmed, been watching CNN and did think it was a huge publicity stunt to start with.

I didn't like his music but he was to young.

    RIP.

such a sad, sudden and untimely loss to the world. I for one am privaleged to say that i grew up listening to MJ music as a child and am proud to say that i experienced the best years of his musical life although i never saw him live. The gravitass of this loss can only be understood by those who were there when Lennon and Elvis left us. The next recent global figure to have passed away certainly in my life time is Diana. I know where i was when she died and i'll know where i was when MJ died.

    RIP

Some of you may get upset with this.

But what has Michael Jackson ever done apart from record a few songs
& become a modern day elephant man.

People young and old die everyday. Some will have done more for there
neighbours, communities or countries without any thought to themselves,
who will not receive the recognition or gratitude they deserve.

I can only think of a handful that deserve national mourning & Diana is not
    one of those, Churchill was.
When it comes to international mourning the list is even shorter & no pop star
should be on it only the likes of Mother Teresa & Gandhi.

Have never understood why people get hysterical when somebody dies
that they do not know or have never met.
It all gets a bit beyond me.
