    Okay, nearly there now. So which pin on the blue terminal do I need to connect where???... Also I tried the ignition and no washer light came up - does this only happen after the VAGcat bit has been done? Below are some photos showing a couple of the stages for a B7 upgrade;

    I'll post the rest once I've sorted out the software side of things...

    Is it possible that I don't need to modify the wiring?

    Okay, this isn't as simple as I thought. Went to my local specialist who have VAG com but they said they can't do it because they don't have the codes??... They gave me the directions to some chap on an estate who could do it but I'm not too keen. Is there anyone in the Oxford area who could code the the dis - I'm happy to travel and obviously pay...

    You also need to earth pin 1 of the dash to close the washer level circuit otherwise the washer level empty symbol will be shown on the dash all the time.

    A8tech has already given the codes. Main dealers don't want anything to do with this for some reason. Your guy on the local estate with vagcom will probably have as good an idea as any of the guys in the main dealers.

    So the 'o 2' etc are the codes? How annoying, they're normally very helpful with these things - maybe they are worried about liability?

    I'm taking my car over to Newbury tomorrow to have it coded by a guy who has offered to help. I don't think he's an expert but he said he'd give it a go. I'm a bit worried that I have missed something important - perhaps to do with scanning??? my car before I put the new DIS stalk in? The instructions seem simple but is there something else I need to do???

    Many thanks!

    Scanning the car before hand is a good idea, but defo write any of the coding down before you change anything. It really is straightforward and is difficult to get your head around until you see VAG-COM working, then it is relatively straightforward.

    The code is string of 6 numbers, the question marks denote the digit and then the numbers below that denote what number in that position will give you which options. If that makes sense?

    So using the codes A8 gave, if the code was 02141, the first digit, 0 isn't used as stays as a 0, next digit 2, is for a car with a 4 spoke steering wheel with radio controls, the next digit, 1 is for Tiptronic paddles, 4 is for cruise control and DIS, and 1 is for either a cab or a saloon (no rear wash/wipe).

    VAG-COM has details of the coding using the same syntax as A8 posted. It really is easier to figure out once you see VAG-COM in use.

    There are some other codes which are a bit trickier to work out, but you don't need to worry about those...

    In your face Mr...it will cost more than the cars worth to add DIS...Audi man! Many thanks to A8tech, Flakmunky and Ben Middleton (of A2OC - who re-coded the car). Just need to add the washer warning light...photos to follow.
