Charging problem

Hey, mk4 golf gt tdi 110, not charging on tickover but ok when reved. Is it possible to buy/get hold of the brush pack for the alternetor or is it a new alternator job, (AHF engine).

In general you can buy brushes for most alternators,although,they are not supplied as spare parts from VW,but the voltage regulator is,and the brushes come with the regulator,depending on the make of the alternator.You would need to remove the regulator,to see the condition of the rotor.If the rotor is badly worn,you will be looking for a new alternator
