Good day gents & ladies, I wonder if any of you could shed some light on a problem we're enduring with my wife's Golf.

Problem being the remote central locking key fob - one minute it works fine then 10 minutes later when you come back to the car the remote unlocking doesn't work. You have to unlock the drivers door manually and turn on the ignition before the alarm sounds then open all the remaining doors!!

This is purely random as it can go for weeks not working right then all is fine for a few weeks then it goes again!!

The locking part of the fob works fine, all the time, it's just the unlocking part that plays up which leads me to possibly think the fob or receiver may be at fault (a dry joint or something along those lines) as it was more suspect in the hot weather, but over the past week or two (while it's been very warm) it's worked fine

I'm banging my head against a brick wall here, so I'm hoping some one here could give me a suggestion on where to go from here - disconnecting the battery and resetting the system has been mentioned on other threads so I was thinking of trying that next.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

    Thanks in advance

    Stu

It's a simple suggestion, but have you tried renewing the fob battery?

Thanks for the suggestion but that was the first thing I tried - I should have stated that above but forgot

    Hi,

To be honest your issue sound very similar to a problem i had with my central locking a few weeks ago.

It sounds like the micro switch is on its way out either on the drivers door or passengers hopefully not both.

The best port of call would be to get a diagnostic check as i did and progress from there.

I paid £25 for the diagnostic check at my local vw audi specilist worth every penny. Saves the messing about.

Unfortunately the mirco switches are £90.00 plus vat though

    Good luck.
