Hi chaps, sorry to jump in ,but ive a 2001 vw sharan that is doing the same, the speedo has failed but does move now and again(possibly when the cabin is hot) the fuel guage will dive and rise as i drive,i have just had a gearbox fitted and i thought this was the problem, but maybe not,the car has been sat through all this bad weather for 3 weeks unused,is it possible that damp is causing this?many thanks Tim

    Hi Tim
The cluster in your car is same as Ford galaxy etc.
Not the same problem as the A3/TT [some other MM clusters].
The TT issue is specifically related to a microprocessor and / or its flash data. This processor is replaced, along with the data.
The Sharan problem is corrupt software in the eeprom [chip] int he cluster.
Sometimes caused by jump starting, flat battery, incompetent mileage corrector, etc.
Depending on where you live, you may find a mileage corrector who knows what he is doing, he can sort out the data problem.
    Good luck

It doesnt look like Steve got a reply re the 'Turbo Lag' question, Im new to the forum today and have a similar problem, though my guess is the clutch is faulty or possibly hydralics as my clutch apears to stick down and makes it impossible to select a gear....though i can select when the engines off, ruling out the gearbox I assume.....anyone else had a similar problem? Any advice would be useful, got it booked in with Audi next week but would appreciate others views or experience.
Cheers in advance for any help

The master cylinder allows air to be drawn in causing pressure loss and this can sometimes be resolved by pumping the pedal

The weld on the clutch pedal breaks away and the clutch master cylinder arm pushes through the retainer causing total loss of clutch pedal

The internal slave cylinder weeps and causes pressure loss and consequential contamination of the clutch centre plate.

One fault can cause the other and in most cases for a complete repair the clutch and slave require replacement possible followed by a new clutch pedal with the master cylinder.

That covers near all possible faults.

Many Thanks for this, first place i looked was the fluid resovoir and no apparent loss of any fluid, so hopefully not as drastic as the worst scenario, no doubt Audi garage will have an opinion....they quoted £500 -£1000 based on clutch/clutch & fly wheel replacement so i guess as long as it falls into that price i will have to suck it. Totally in love with the car, so she will get what she needs (for now) until i cant pay the mortgage lol

There should be no reason for the flywheel to be replaced unless the surface is uneven causing a judder. If contaminated then simply cleaning with a solvent and emery paper will suffice but the centre plate will require replacement due to loss of coefficient clamping
