    i have a golf 1.6 16v, bcb engine code...
it has recently started to run rough, with engine management light on and epc light on dash, also no response from accelerator when really bad, though if i switch it off and start it again it will drive ok, though lights still on dash.
i had it code read which came up with the following

    p0106 - manifold absolute pressure/barometric pressure circuit range/performance

i purchased a map/thrust sensor from vw and fitted it, thought initially it had cure it, but the following morning it was just the same as before.

i cant see any obvious air leaks etc so am wondering if anybody has any ideas what else can be the cause of this code, that hopefully can cure it because i need it for a holiday soon.

Not related to your fault code, but may help:

I have a 2002 MKIV 1.6 SE. I had the same problem with the EPC light coming on and the car was running really rough. I didn't have the codes read straight away, but read on the forum that this could be caused by a faulty break light switch. So I checked the rear brake lights and they were not coming on. Took out the brake light switch and found it was broken. Replaced the brake light switch and all is now good.

this causes this problem the lower idler breaks and the cam timing runs out of spec but not enough to put on camsensor fault
