I seem to remember on my TT it was possible to do a factory re-set which tightened up throttle response etc.Certainly on my Merc C Class I could do this and it was great .It meant if you had been lazy on the throttle for a while you could get a re set which meant it was much sharper. Can you do that on the A4 ?

You're thinking about the Throttle Body Alignment.

I've not tried it yet but I'd expect so :

would love to have a play around with some of these settings - i'm due a service soon so might see if i can get some changed at same time

anyone had experience of the cheaper Vag-Com cables available on Ebay ?

    £30 v's £300 for the rosstech one ?

seems the rosstech one acts as an activation dongle for their software - is the freeware version any good for minor tinkering like altering the settings mentioned ?

You're only paying a bit for the cable. Most of it is to use the software hence why Ross-Tech put a dongle in the cable. You can download a free old version of the software which is fine on cars 5 years old etc but with our using the CAN bus you need a fairly up to date version.

Did you really think people throw big money at it if it could be done very cheap

p.s. You can actually do it a lot cheaper. THere are applciations out there for £25 or so that run on Iphones etc and use wifi to talk to a ODBII adaptor which is about £100.

I know that Biscuit on Tyresmoke.net has this solution but since I'd already bough mine I've not looked into it.

Would these work on an 09 A3? Also, does anyone know how to make electric folding mirrors automatically fold in when the car is locked and out when unlocked/started, as my A3 doesn't do this, you must turn the knob.

In intend to activate both Brake flashing mods. I did a test the other day and at a 60mph full on emergency stop the hazards didn't come on. No idea why it's not activated as I can't see any downside.

I'm also gonna turn on the flashing brake lights. I've previously looked at an add on device so if the car can do it then why not!
