    Hi
Has anyone replaced the CAT on a TDi with a straight through pipe?
Mines blowing and I don't want to buy a new one if i don't have to.
Let me know if you've done it and what parts you recommend.
Are there any probs when it comes to MOT time??

    Cheers

Any car manufactured post 1993 will need a cat to pass the mot.

Pain in the backside but I don't think there are any ways round it.

only petrol engined cars require a cat. diesels are tested on a smoke meter. you can remove the cat and fit a straight through pipe in its place.

    Thanx for the info.
I have been told by another source that diesels don't need the CAT as they have a smoke test rather than emissions test - so it look lile it coming off!!!
I've found a miltek straight through pipe - Has anyone fitted one??

    Cheers

Ive got a full Milltek system on my 150 tdi. Great system. Go for the one WITHOUT the mid section silencer. I initially fitted one of these and it made the car quieter than it was with the standard VW system! The 'unsilenced' Milltek system has only a back box (As does the standard VW system), and isnt much (If any) louder than the VW system. These are NOT 'boy racer' exhaust systems, but you will get some 'growls' when working the car hard. A CAT is not required on a diesel to pass an MOT.

On the subject of the 4motion rear valance - these are not the straightforward swap fit as some would make you believe! One of the mounting brackets on the car needs removing with an angle grinder and the towing eye recess on the valance doesnt quite line up with the towing eye (The mounting bracket and towing eye not being in the same place on 4motion's as other Golfs!). With this extra work, the valances do fit nicely though.

I got my exhaust and rear valance (Original VW) from Awesome GTI in Irlam (Manchester) a few years back..
150 GTI DIESEL - propper juice!!
