    hi i have a mark 4 golf(53 plate) 1.4 match 16v an my emission light on my dash has been coming on for a few days then it will go off for a while, recently my car jus won't start even if i have jus driven it, i give it a few mins and it will be fine again obviously an intermittent problem, this has only happened 2 or 3 times but only recently, my mechanic said i need a new temp sensor but my temp gauge seem's to be working fine can anyone please help i dont know what to do

    The temp sensor is a combined sensor,one part sends a signal to the temp gauge,and the other part sends a signal to the engine control unit,which may indeed, be the cause of the start problem.

    could possibly be the reason why i have the emissions light on my dash?
