My MPG has improved greatly in the warmer weather.

Most of my commute is urban, and MPG has been 34 - 37 at the end of a journey.

    Now is more like 42 - 45, I even saw 54, I don't know why.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

57 1.9 TDI SE Estate btw

My 1.9 Tdi is the same.
Daily commute to work, low 40s on very cold days last winter, 56Mpg yesterday!. It wasn't a one off, it is a good 10mpg better in the summer.
I can only put it down to the slow warm up of engine in the winter, eg it dosn't have time to warm up properly on 12 mile drive..

Me too. My current 2.0TDI 140 Sport, the wife's 1.9 and my previous 1.9 130HP B5.5 have all been like this. Better weather = better economy - according to the onboard display anyway.

Perhaps if we lived in Florida they'd do 100mpg all the time !.

Just remembered, I often drive 200+ miles in the morning and it's just the same as doing a short trip in the morning, better weather=better economy.

Me and the family were in Florida last year and despite the warm weather, our Dodge Grand Caravan (Chrysler Voyager) couldnt seem to do better than about 14mpg That is really awful economy!

And as for the better fule consumption in warmer weather, I think that diesel fuel in the winter is different to summer diesel fuel? Also, it has something to do with the density of the air and the car producing less power in warmer conditions. There was a thread on here about worse mpg in the winter and I and a few others gave some explaination of it

I see around 36-38mpg at the end of a 26 mile commute at the moment, and that's from a 2.0 litre petrol. Not too bad I think.

Not seen anything personally, but it's about the time of year that the fuel consistancy changes to a slightly lighter grade.

Mine lives in a garage, and we've had some ridiculous temperature swings here recently (24 deg C one day, 10 the next) but the difference is apparent as soon as the car moves, so it's bound to make a difference when the weather's warmer, even allowing for modern oils.
